Between melancholy and lightness
“From The Blue” by Girl As Wave immediately caught my attention with its clear, feather-light synth pop sound. The song strikes a balance between melancholy and lightness, floating almost weightlessly over the gently pulsating beats. What particularly fascinates me is the feminine, harmonious vocals that glide perfectly over the soundscape—almost fragile, yet determined at the same time.
The classic hand claps set rhythmic accents reminiscent of classic electro pop, while the almost space-age organs lean a little towards Ladytron. These details give the track character, but never make it seem overloaded. Nevertheless, it is precisely because the song sounds so flawlessly constructed that I would have liked to hear a little more emotional variation in the vocals in some places – the cool, detached delivery seems intentional, but also a little monotonous.
