Dark, atmospheric, seductive: ‘Let's Go!’ by Moonbean reviewed
Sometimes a single sentence is enough to capture the tension of an entire track: Just say let's go. Moonbean from Canada rely on dark minimal synth pop with ‘Let's Go!’, which begins relaxed and slowly builds into an uncomfortably seductive atmosphere. The song feels like the last game on the dance floor – when the DJ puts on his final record and two eyes meet in the semi-darkness of the club.
Musically, ‘Let's Go!’ remains minimalist and relies on a hypnotic groove that gets stuck in your ear canals for almost six minutes. A more compact radio edit would certainly have provided more immediacy, but it is precisely this length that gives the track its trancelike effect. The vocals are so harmoniously embedded in the sound that they are more of an additional instrument than a classic vocal track.
The subtle wobble sounds, reminiscent of early 90s acid beats, are particularly interesting and give the track a subtle retro touch. With ‘Let's Go!’, Moonbean deliver a piece of dark electronic romanticism that moves somewhere between seduction and melancholy. A dark club track with a hypnotic pull.
