Synth pop with a gripping drive
The Croatian artist "Disco Lizard" combines clear synth pop with an impressive energy here that reminds me of the club classic ‘Papillon’ by The Editors. If you like that song, you'll probably like ‘See You in Paradise’ just as much.
The vocals are an absolute highlight. Warm, clear and emotional, they create a strong contrast to the driving, almost military structure of the beat. This military undertone is emphasised by subtle drum rolls, as known from military marches. I find this mixture of dynamics and feeling particularly successful. The song is simply constructed without ever seeming banal – each passage has its purpose, and the transition between the individual parts feels seamless.
The mix is clean, the synths are powerful and precise, and the energy of the track is perfectly captured. In terms of content, Disco Lizard addresses the duality and inner conflicts of the human mind. It's well worth a listen!
