Excerpt from our deep dive review of ‘The Truth Doesn't Matter’ from our upcom­ing print magazine at the end of March 2027:

Like a romantic bal­lad that seems to have sprung dir­ectly from the 80s, 'Hey Stranger' opens and imme­di­ately whisks us away into a dreamy synth pop world full of feel­ing. The vocals feel incred­ibly sooth­ing and empath­et­ic, car­ried by soft, drawn-out har­mon­ies that wrap around the listen­er like a warm coat.

But the appear­ance of ini­tial calm is pos­it­ively decept­ive: the struc­ture turns out to be sur­pris­ingly dynam­ic. New tones and innov­at­ive sounds con­stantly mix into the arrange­ment, so you can hardly get used to the status quo. Although the song is com­plexly arranged, it nev­er feels over­loaded or over­whelm­ing at any point. Simply too much excit­ing stuff is hap­pen­ing on the aud­it­ory level. The 4:06 minutes lit­er­ally fly by. Creating such a short-lived sense of time in a num­ber that is essen­tially a bal­lad is a true art and com­mands my deep­est respect.
