‘Disengagement Ring’ – a wild ride through decades of electricity
Totally crazy shit! I was completely blown away the first time I heard it. The intro throws me straight into a dark EBM wave, edgy and physical – but 12 seconds later, the sound shifts and glides into almost flawless electroclash. It's precisely this break that grabs me. The singer sounds so damn much like Neil Arthur from Blancmange that I almost get goosebumps – that clear, slightly detached 80s vibe fits perfectly. And then Gina Kuhn joins in with her punky, snotty vocals and effortlessly takes the song to a new level of energy.
Everything seems varied, multi-layered, but never overloaded. Lyrically, it's about letting go, shedding fear, taking control – and this idea also runs through the music: "Disengage to engage". A fantastic, dazzling hybrid that finally anchors More Ephemerol's sound in the present.

Lyrics "More Ephemerol – Disengagement Ring"
Manic panic – I can tell you're scared
You're shaking in your skin
Your flesh is changing
You're turning violet and green
And you're afraid to be seen
There's nothing left for us but consolation
Remnants of before
I know it hurts
The weight of fear is taxing on the skull
Brittle bones are the first to crack, you know?
Could we all just find it in ourselves
To hang it on the shelf
To send it straight to hell
Resistance isn't winning any wars
And fortitude is all we have now
Disengage to engage
Disengage
This is the moment
This is the crux
You're gonna wanna take this and run
This is the moment
This is the one
You're gonna wanna take the plunge
Break through the shell, your hell
Let the fear go
And take control
Get up and walk out the door
You're capable of so much more
I wanna see you learn how to shine
Before you die
Get up, get out
I need to see you alive
