OVRGRWN – Take My Heart

When synthwave and dark wave come together perfectly

The blend of syn­thwave and dark wave really hits the spot in “Take My Heart” and sounds incred­ibly har­mo­ni­ous to me. OVRGRWN, the duo from Luxembourg and England, have delivered a really good, finely pro­duced track here. Nevertheless, I have to admit that, in my opin­ion, this track is slightly weak­er than “Heaven In Your Arms” from the same EP, “Love Infinitely”.

What both­ers me per­son­ally is the rather repet­it­ive lyr­ics centred around the line “Take my heart, it’s yours”, that’s just a bit too much repe­ti­tion for my lik­ing. Lyrically, it’s appro­pri­ately about total devo­tion and let­ting go of all fears, but I’m hop­ing for a bit more vari­ety in future. Nevertheless, there remains a strong elec­tron­ic vibe, and I’d def­in­itely like to see more of that in the band’s future releases.
