Melancholy on repeat – Swedish synth pop with potential

Sometimes a song feels like look­ing through a milky glass – famil­i­ar, but not quite tan­gible. That's how "Story With No End" by Syntax Supreme feels to me. The relaxed synth pop track from Sweden impresses with a pleas­ant, warm voice and a pro­duc­tion that is sol­id but a little too cau­tious for my taste. I would have liked to hear more cour­age in the sound – a break, an unex­pec­ted effect, some­thing surprising.

The bridge stands out pleas­antly: calm, atmo­spher­ic, almost float­ing. The lyr­ics are repet­it­ive, but this also makes them stick in your head – lines like "Dream for dreaming's sake / Bend but nev­er break" strike a mel­an­chol­ic chord for me. A beau­ti­ful song that I just wish had a little more edge.
