Admittedly, ‘Subterranean World’ by Blone Noble isn’t the kind of catchy synth pop we usu­ally fea­ture on Electrozombies, but it’s pre­cisely this depar­ture from the norm that makes it so appeal­ing. This track by the US band has an art­ful, deeply mel­an­chol­ic qual­ity that gripped me straight away. The atmo­sphere exudes pure long­ing and deep emo­tion, per­fectly match­ing the bleak lyr­ics about an uncom­prom­ising des­cent into an ali­en world.

Amidst the hec­tic pace of every­day music, this song feels like a desert island in the sea: a track you simply need to wind down. The chosen mid-tempo proves ideal, whilst the synths are spot on. Even the rather prom­in­ent bass gui­tar blends in superbly, lend­ing the whole thing a won­der­fully nos­tal­gic touch.
