A bold genre-blending feat between techno beats and synth pop
'Quiet' starts off very atmospherically, but this mood is promptly interrupted by a techno hi-hat. I’ll admit it: that almost made me stop listening to the song before it was over. But that would have been a huge mistake! As soon as the lyrics kick in, that sceptical feeling vanishes instantly.
Child of Night play extremely boldly with various musical genres here, yet manage to consistently stay within the dark synth pop realm in the overall impression. Lyrically, it becomes almost oppressive with lines like “Hand over my mouth”, but the song is a real joy after the first chorus, as a light-footed catchiness unfolds perfectly here. The track is taken from the current album “Conspiracy”, which also features the strong opener “Old Moons”. Anyone willing to get past the initial shock will be rewarded with a first-class track.
