Julia Gaeta delivers sombre depth with a few slow moments
With “Bleed”, Julia Gaeta delivers a generally beautiful, sombre dark pop track. I’m immediately captivated by the song’s soft, feminine vocals, which harmonise perfectly with the immense depth of the industrial-style synth sounds.
Lyrically, she poses the essential question in the chorus: “Why should we come down from this?”, a hymn to female self-determination in the fight against societal expectations. There is, however, one slight drawback for me: I find the song lacks a bit of variety, as it becomes somewhat monotonous after just two minutes. This is more than made up for by the visual artistry: the music video, directed by Gaeta herself, is beautifully produced. Inspired by Dario Argento, she creates a modern universe far from Earth. A weightless place where movement expresses pure power.

Lyrics of "Julia Gaeta – Bleed"
How do we come down from this?
Yearning subside
Why should we come down from this?
High of our time
Too long, too long
To fight it
Too far, too far
To right it
Why should we come down from this?
Why should we come down?
Why would we come down from this?
Ready
To bleed out onto everything below
Rising
You look at me like I'm someone you hate
Come on
Let's do it
With passion now
Give me some life
How do we come down from this?
Yearning subside
Why should we come down from this?
High of our time
Too long, too long
To fight it
Too far, too far
To right it
Why should we come down from this?
Why should we come down?
Why should we come down from this?
Ready (ready)
To bleed out onto everything below
(Bleed out onto everything, bleed out onto everything)
Rising (rising)
You look at me like I'm someone you hate
(I'm someone, yeah I'm someone)
Come on
Let's do it
With passion now
Give me some life
