Bold energy: Why “Hexed Hearts” belongs on the dancefloor
Right from the intro to ‘Hexed Hearts’, I’m drawn straight into a menacing cold wave track that unmistakably carries a dark horror theme. Digital Drvgs from the USA deliver a driving beat here, the tempo of which is ideal for the dancefloor. I’m particularly surprised by the song’s rather long bridge right in the first half. It’s a bold structure, but I think it works really well, as it noticeably amps up the track’s energy right from the start.
The vocals are typical of the cold wave genre. Overall, the vocals fit together wonderfully, even if, personally, I found the vocal effects at the end a bit too strong. Nevertheless, this track is definitely one to check out for cold wave fans.
