The perfect dark wave DNA in the here and now
With their new song ‘Vochy’, Dlina Volny demonstrate, in a rather cool and effortless way, exactly how contemporary dark wave should sound. To me, the track’s musical DNA is clearly rooted in the 1980s, whilst the sound is firmly and modernly anchored in the present.
The band are releasing their first track in Belarusian here, which, according to their own statement, serves as a manifesto against lies and the abuse of power. Even though I don’t understand the lyrics, to me the vocals sound absolutely harmonious, sincere and heartfelt, and very emotional. This song audibly conveys the band’s inner struggle to the outside world, and the overall vibe here is simply spot on.
