Warmongers 2026: The return of the immortal club anthem

I don’t think I need to say much about the fant­ast­ic club clas­sic “Warmongers”, which, incid­ent­ally, is cur­rently cel­eb­rat­ing its 20th anniversary. The track played at every dark disco party for years on end. Even when I hear the song in a club today, you can tell straight away how the dance floor fills up. So it’s still a club hit that just won’t die.

However, it’s not just great for march­ing in a square to the 4/4 beat, the lyr­ics are also bit­ter­sweet and extremely sar­cast­ic. By the time you get to lines like “Join the war machine and fight on for­eign ground” or "Patriots we will reward you / Our nation will be so proud of you", you don’t need to be a geni­us to work out who the song is aimed at. I love it so much!!!

The new 2026 ver­sion has been beau­ti­fully re-released by Frozen Plasma, breath­ing new life into the song. With a small chor­us that reminds me of Pink Floyd’s “The Wall”, the song takes on a sur­pris­ingly youth­ful feel that per­fectly cap­tures the urgency of the present day. Nothing against the new ver­sion, it’s bril­liantly pro­duced and highly top­ic­al, but I don’t think this ver­sion will replace the club clas­sic at your favour­ite disco in the long run.
