A dancefloor magnet with new wave charm
From the first beat, Fotorama's ‘Radio Silence’ catapults me into a maelstrom of pulsating beats and vibrating synthesizers. This track from Denmark is a real powerhouse that makes my feet dance.
What impresses me most is the way in which synth pop, new wave and post punk merge into a coherent, energetic whole. To me, ‘Radio Silence’ is reminiscent of The Bravery's hit ‘An Honest Mistake’ at times, but I also hear clear parallels to New Order. Fotorama manages to process these influences into a fresh sound of its own.
The production is clearly dance-floor orientated. I find the song starts with full force and doesn't let up for a second. What particularly captivates me is the clever dynamics: quieter passages serve as contrast and fuel the powerful moments even more. This tension keeps me hooked throughout and makes me fever with excitement for the entire playing time.
