It Burns – Trouble

I've got "It Burns" on my head­phones again, and with "Trouble", the Czech band deliv­ers exactly what I want to hear: The song is beau­ti­fully cool, dance­able, uncluttered, and won­der­fully var­ied. The vocals are par­tic­u­larly note­worthy; they're abso­lutely spot on. They're simply fant­ast­ic and give the cool elec­tron­ics a soft, fem­in­ine touch that adds anoth­er excit­ing lay­er to the song.

As with the song "Shift to Overdrive", long­time Anne Clark fans will espe­cially love this one. Lyrically, it fits the dark wave atmo­sphere per­fectly, deal­ing with tox­ic obses­sion and the loss of self-determ­in­a­tion. The song is fant­ast­ic through and through, but unfor­tu­nately not entirely flaw­less. To be hon­est, the occa­sion­al funky gui­tars instantly annoyed me, and I almost dis­missed the song because of them. Luckily, this is kept to a min­im­um over the course of the song, so the dark vibe isn't ruined.
