Synthwave was never really a music genre that appealed to me. But there are always exceptions, as in this case. Specifically, when a soul is added to the song in the form of vocals in addition to the classic synthesizer sound. Singer Andrea Moreno is responsible for the soul of this song and I think she did a great job.
