Poison The Vicar – The Wolf

Poison The Vicar - The WolfIn the fascinating world of electronic music, there are always surprises that reach us from afar. This time the vibes come from faraway China, and they are so refreshingly different. "The Wolf" by Poison The Vicar is a song that explores the boundaries of the EBM genre, creating an energetic, dark mood. The song is taken from the album 'No More Silence'.

EBM from China may seem exotic and unusual at first glance, but Poison The Vicar have managed to develop their own unique style. The mixture of powerful vocals and the hard, almost industrial EBM beats brings an interesting dynamic to the song. It's almost as if the pop factor is spiced with a pinch of darkness.

The young band Poison The Vicar, who only stepped into the limelight in 2021, have definitely attracted attention with "The Wolf". Their back catalogue is reminiscent of Front Line Assembly's glory days in the 90s and shows that they could gain a foothold in the electronic music scene with their unique sound.

If "The Wolf" is any indication of their future development, then we can be excited. Their 2022 track "Safe To Hide", reminiscent of Depeche Mode, shows another multi-faceted side to their music and is one of my favourite tracks by the band. While some of their songs might be a little too harsh for some ears, "The Wolf" is definitely worth a listen to get to know this up-and-coming band from China.

This song is part of our Spotify playlist ‘New Synth Pop Songs 2023‘. The playlist is updated continuously. Follow this playlist now and don’t miss any of the latest synth pop hits in 2023.

Lyrics of 'Poison The Vicar – The Wolf'

Fight the hunger feed the beat
Deep inside you, the two shall meet
Forget your past so the wall can fall
The hunger inside you could eat them all

Feel the hunger getting stronger
feed upon the meek
Feel the hunger getting stronger
Bones crush at your feet.
They invite in,
see your deepest sins.
Take your skin and tan your hide.
Wear you around as a disguise

Little did you know they'll eat you alive
Tell'em the truth
they'll say it's a lie
Wolves are on the prowl
Wolves will hunt you down.

You think you're the wolf but you're just a clown
Wearing your cheap sheepskin all around

Feel the hunger getting stronger
Stomping on your dreams
Feel the hunger getting stronger
The pack soon will meet

You try to feed them to keep 'em at bay
But that's not enough to keep the wolves away
You try to feed them to keep 'em at bay

You try to feed them
But you'll never
Keep the wolves away

Fight the hunger
Feed the beast
Deep inside you, the two shall meet
Forget your past
Tear down walls
The hunger inside you will kill them all

Little did you know they'll eat you alive
You tell them the truth
they'll say it's a lie
Wolves are on the prowl
Wolves will hunt you down.

Gnawing inside you
The wolf released
Speaking in tongues
That breeds deceit

Feel the hunger getting stronger

Growing every day
The hunger it remains
Breaking through the chains
While your curse
goes on and on
The curse
goes on and on

Poison The Vicar about 'The Wolf'

The Wolf is about the constant lies we are fed by the world around us. Trying to make a voice for yourself in a world where no one hears you can break the soul. The Wolf was written during the lockdowns in Shanghai, China. Where the people could only whisper their anger for fear of retaliation. The constant invasion of privacy and the threat of being sent to a sick camp always looms. The Wolf captures that resentment of silent sheep.
