Vioflesh weaves dreams from cool cold wave and witch house

I must admit: the intro alone had me hooked, as it could almost have come straight out of a hor­ror film. With ‘The Spell’, Chilean band Vioflesh serve up a track that cre­ates a gen­er­al mood that is dark and almost men­acing. What imme­di­ately strikes me are the excel­lent and unusu­al synths, and above all the ghostly vocals that give the whole thing a slight witch house vibe.

The cool cold wave beat goes straight to your legs and invites you to dance. I find the dynam­ics par­tic­u­larly strong: here and there, the song calms down, only to take off again with renewed energy. Lyrically, it's about diving deep into the ‘Night Charm’, where souls rage and stars col­lide – a hyp­not­ic pull that fits per­fectly with this dark club anthem.
