Crackling on the dance floor: when vinyl addiction kicks in

With ‘Vinyl’, Swedish act CK37 deliv­ers a track that I would unhes­it­at­ingly describe as an enter­tain­ing EBM dance­floor banger. I really enjoy the song, not least because of the lyr­ics. The Swedish lyr­ics deal with the addic­tion to vinyl records with a clear wink. This col­lect­ing mania is por­trayed so intensely here that it resembles an addic­tion to a hard drug, when you are even will­ing to sell your house for it. Drastic, indeed!

Musically, this theme is con­sist­ently addressed. In keep­ing with the theme, the hard EBM beat is accom­pan­ied here and there by the crack­ling of vinyl. It's a nice detail that allows me to feel the love for ana­logue, while the rhythm inev­it­ably encour­ages me to dance.
