Facets, tension, cyberpunk: “The Human Touch” in focus
I’m immediately drawn in by the multi-faceted vocals on “The Human Touch”. For me, they bring exactly the kind of dynamics that carry the track without anything ever feeling static. At the same time, I can clearly hear how the sound has evolved: noticeably more varied than earlier productions, with something new happening all the time. This constant shift runs right through to the end and maintains the tension throughout.
There’s also this subtle cyberpunk touch that stands out to me straight away. An extremely modern synth pop sound that feels both cold and strangely intimate in lines like “It lacks the human touch”. For me, it’s a cohesive upgrade.

Lyrics of "Dead Lights – The Human Touch"
What’s the use? What is love?
Too confused for the human touch.
It’s obtuse, all double Dutch.
I’m the new recluse, so plug me into…
A liquid crystal glow,
Love's new low.
Eat static, Romeo.
So nouveau.
Tell me lies, tell me truths.
From idyllic eyes,
that approximate the hue.
By design, of baby blue.
Blank and blind, but you see my soul through…
A liquid crystal glow,
Love's new low.
Eat static, Romeo.
So nouveau.
A liquid crystal glow,
Love's new low.
Eat static, Romeo.
So hollow.
Beautiful, and blissfully unaware.
Ecstatic indigo.
Perfection.
It lacks the human touch.
Eat static, Romeo.
Perfection.
It lacks the human touch.
Perfection on a plate.
Love's approximation.
Ecstatic indigo.
Perfection.
Perfection given birth
A faux lover in furs.
Eat static, Romeo.
Perfection.
Perfection, breathe for me.
It's so, so lonely.
Without the human touch.
Eat static, Romeo.
It's so, so lonely.
Eat static, Romeo.
