‘Dance People Dance’ between pop catchiness and dark depth
Penthouse Plants deliver a song with ‘Dance People Dance’ that vocally brings back memories of Straight Razor for me. At the same time, the sound is more catchy and poppy without losing its dark undertones. This interplay makes the track exciting for me because it wavers between melancholy and dance floor energy.
What doesn't appeal to me at all, however, is the music video. Once again, it's one of those AI clips that I find simply awful to look at and conveys zero atmosphere. I also find it exciting how familiar this track seems to me when I hear it for the first time. The vibe reminds me of so many well-known synth pop productions that I actually did an AI song check. The result was inconclusive, so I decided to put the issue aside – maybe I've just become AI-paranoid. In any case, I didn't have this feeling as strongly with the previous releases ‘Dancing In The Dark’ and ‘I'm Only Human’.
