British new wave charm: DECO invite you to ‘Dreamhouse’
I’ll admit it: I found the song a bit hard to get into at first. It’s technically well produced and the fantastic music video speaks for itself, so that wasn’t the problem. It’s more the overall vibe, which leans heavily towards shallower electro pop. Coupled with a touch of 80s new wave and an extremely light-footed (commercial) pop attitude, the track doesn’t really feel ‘dark’ enough for Electrozombies.
Yet despite the lack of gloom, I couldn’t simply let ‘Dreamhouse’ slip by. Those who enjoy easily digestible fare will find here a fresh track with a distinct nostalgic touch. The inspiration from 80s legends such as Duran Duran or the late George Michael is unmistakable and lends the whole thing a charming retro sheen that’s hard to resist.
