Soviet brilliantly catapult a classic into the here and now

With ‘Situations’, Soviet present a mod­ern and very well-craf­ted rein­ter­pret­a­tion of the Cetu Javu clas­sic from the 1990 album ‘Southern Lands’. I think the ori­gin­al is still very listen­able today, but Soviet have mod­ern­ised the song com­pletely. The res­ult sounds like a good, fresh elec­tro pop song – over­all a little softer and more com­mer­cially radio-friendly, without this sound­ing neg­at­ive. Lyrically, the piece cap­tures moments when ‘noth­ing mat­ters’ and com­mu­nic­a­tion is lost, while the music picks up the listener.

I would also like to draw par­tic­u­lar atten­tion to the beau­ti­fully craf­ted cov­er art­work, which is a won­der­ful homage and imme­di­ately reminded me of the time of the ori­gin­al. An all-round suc­cess­ful update.
