When obsession meets elegant dark pop synths
With ‘Kiss Me Slowly’, BetaBlueX deliver a wonderfully catchy dark pop track. Even though the US duo themselves like to describe their sound as falling somewhere between dark wave and synthwave, to my taste the track flirts noticeably more with classic pop music, which is why, for me, it clearly belongs in the dark pop category.
Sonically, the track comes across as rather understated and subtle, but it is precisely this that allows it to reveal its very own merits. The production is wonderfully clean and pleasantly polished. Lyrically, it delves deep into emotional devotion. An immersive narrative about obsession and a romantic loss of control, which nestles perfectly within the nocturnal, gently pulsating soundscape.

Lyrics of "BetaBlueX – Kiss Me Slowly"
Did it all for love
A bit unreal
Couldn’t stop myself
Head over heels
It’s a sacrifice
To be revealed
Did it all for love
I’m in my feels
Obsessed
Possessed
Do you want Romance
Kiss me slowly
Do you want to dance
hold me closely
Do you want Romance
Come and show me
Will you take the chance
Then Kiss me slowly
Now I’m lost in love
I can’t conceal
Feeling mesmerized
The spell is real
Can’t escape the fate
My heart won’t heal
You are everything
It’s so surreal
Obsessed
Possessed
Do you want Romance
Kiss me slowly
Do you want to dance
hold me closely
Do you want Romance
Come and show me
Will you take the chance
Then Kiss me slowly
It’s time to fall
