Between scepticism and addictiveness: this is how Flight To London's new song strikes me
"No One's Forgiven" by "Flight To London" is like meeting an old friend again – a friend from the glorious 80s who has aged really well. From the very first listen, this fine synth pop track takes me right back to the musical era I love so much. Although bass guitars are clearly present, No One's Forgiven lays all its cards on the table: pure synth pop with genuine 80s flair. I sense stylistic parallels to songs like "Temptation" by Heaven 17, "Gold" by Spandau Ballet and "The Look Of Love" by ABC – all anthems that have a place of honour in my collection. It is precisely these references that make this song so charming to me.
What Flight To London delivers here is a successful mix and a nod to the big names of the 80s – but not just a copy. The production is convincing and brings that wonderfully rhythmic, almost driving energy that I know from Tears For Fears productions like ‘The Hurting’. Even though I'm often at odds with guitar sounds, everything works amazingly well for me here. The guitars complement the synthetic sound instead of stealing the show. That's why I can recommend ‘No One's Forgiven’ to anyone who feels drawn to these classics.
I find the lyrics equally exciting and dark: they capture the absurdity of the present and the turmoil of a society torn between political turmoil and media spectacle. The lines "Is no one safe – is no one forgiven?" reflect a deep scepticism that I can relate to very well.

Lyrics of "Flight To London – No One's Forgiven"
Too many fools playing this crooked game
Another dose, but I still feel the same
The spoken word gets twisted on its head
the devil's voice is sleeping in your bed
Who do you think you are?
Joker sitting on a throne
Lights are on but no one's home
it's easy throwing sticks and stones
Is no one safe – is no one forgiven?
Pave the streets that go nowhere
Saints and sinners in our prayers
Circus music, empty chairs
Is no one safe – is no one forgiven?
A little man shouting on my tv screen
His master plan – is fueled by gasoline
He fakes a smile until his face is sore
It makes me sick, yet I still ask for more
fears are flowing underground
silence only tears us apart
when the sinners wear you down
fight to find the love in the dark
