Dreamy dark pop with a club flair
With ‘Amnesia’, Girl As Wave takes me to a world where melancholy meets danceability. The song starts with a bassline that immediately reminds me of a pulsating beat by ‘Night Club’ – an aspect that I love right away. It is this clever fusion of dark pop and dream pop that makes the track special to me.
The production is simply successful. The dreamy synths give the track a unique touch and create an atmospheric depth that captivates me. However, I would have liked to have heard less reverb on the vocals. For me, it takes away some of the authenticity that the song's melancholy undertone actually wants to convey.
‘Amnesia’ is part of the EP “Remind Me Who I Am”, and is also worth listening to.
