Classic synth sounds with a touch of raw diamond
From the very first listen to “In The Dark” by the Swedish collaboration Lilac Gray x Helgon, it was clear to me: this is outstanding synth pop with a wonderfully dark edge. The sound feels instantly familiar to me and I hear massive potential here. The drums come across as beautifully crisp and the synth sounds feel almost classic, without, however, seeming outdated.
There is one downside, however: the vocals unfortunately sound very thin, a mistake was likely made either during recording or mixing. As a result, the whole thing strikes me more as an unfinished demo version. Lyrically, with lines about reuniting in the darkness and starting with empty hands, the song fits perfectly into the overall sombre picture. Despite the shortcoming with the vocals, I definitely want to highlight this track, as, as I mentioned earlier, I simply hear potential here.

Lyrics of "Lilac Gray – In The Dark (Feat. Helgon)"
I search for something you are not
Your words are something I forgot
We will begin
We will begin
We will begin with empty hands
In the dark we will meet again
In the dark no one sees the end
The finger pointing at my head
The judges thinking of me dead
I will begin
I will begin
I will begin to hide and cave
Lights out
Lights out
Lights out
Lights out
In the dark we will meet again
In the dark no one sees the end
The lilac gray is closing in
We dissapear inside our skin
We will begin
We will begin
We will begin to change our ways
In the dark we will meet again
In the dark no one sees the end
In the dark we will meet again
In the dark no one sees the end
In the dark
We will meet again
In the dark
We will meet again
In the dark
We will meet again
In the dark
We will meet again
