DXCV3R x Nównøis – In Stillness, We Die

Between fear and healing: When stagnation leads to death

With “In Stillness, We Die”, DXCV3R and Nównøis have delivered a col­lab­or­a­tion that really grabbed me straight away. The song is won­der­fully mel­an­chol­ic and, to me, has that very spe­cial 90s elec­tro-pop vibe. The vocals in par­tic­u­lar are abso­lutely top-notch and I really like them; they cap­ture the mood perfectly.

Interestingly, the sound trig­gers a real gut feel­ing in me: to me, it sounds some­how “British”. Don’t ask me for tech­nic­al details; it’s simply that spe­cif­ic atmo­sphere that I can’t quite put my fin­ger on. Set at a mid-tempo pace, the track is best suited to quiet listen­ing on head­phones, so you can lose your­self in it com­pletely. Lyrically, it’s about the inner struggle between the desire to give it your all and the para­lys­ing fear that ulti­mately silences you. A dance with the shad­ows, where you end up alone, but free.

A quirky fact on the side: The repet­it­ive “Me, Myself, And I” gave me a flash­back to De La Soul’s 80s hit, which has noth­ing in com­mon with this song, but is now stuck in my head. Thanks for nothing! 🙄🤪

A bit of advice to artists in gen­er­al: stop giv­ing yourselves such com­plic­ated names. It just doesn’t stick in the listener’s mind as well.
