To me, ‘Closing In’ by Magnetic Skies seems like a neatly con­struc­ted piece of synth pop that doesn't ven­ture into any major exper­i­ments, but impresses with its tech­nic­al pre­ci­sion. The syn­thes­izers sound rich and warm, almost as if they want to com­pensate for the cold­ness in the lyr­ics. This ten­sion – between extern­al pres­sure and inner strength – runs through the entire track.

Lyrically, there is a sense of con­front­a­tion, psy­cho­lo­gic­al con­fine­ment and quiet rebel­lion. I like how Magnetic Skies pours this heav­i­ness into clear struc­tures; noth­ing is over­loaded, everything fits. ‘Closing In’ is not a song that sur­prises, but one that stays with you – through its subtle intensity.
