A Cracked Veil: Why ‘Ghost Waves’ is the Electronic Exception
With ‘Ghost Waves’, Shadow Colonies from Thailand deliver a track that immediately grabbed me with its interesting and, above all, rich, fresh synthwave sound. What sets this track apart for me are the whispering vocals, which strongly remind me of witch house and give the production a completely new, fresh feel. The overall atmosphere is dark and mysterious, almost as if you yourself were witnessing ‘the altar creaking’ and the veil between reality and obsession falling.
I listened to other tracks by the band for comparison and have to say honestly: the band is anything but consistent. While their other stuff drifts more towards organic pop, this song is a definite electronic exception. If you're into dark wave aesthetics, you'll get exactly what you want here.

Lyrics of "Shadow Colonies – Ghost Waves"
One day you could be in my life, one day
One day, you will see through these eyes, one day
One day, in my life
One day, with these eyes
I’ve been dreaming in different spaces
Legends fall, in awe of its greatness
The ritual’s done, let the waters speak
Fold the lines and travel free, the smokeless fire you’ll never see
Cast the nets and dredge the deep, whispers
One day, in my life, you’ll be
One day, through these eyes, you’ll see, you'll see
The altar creaks as the veils are lifted
The heart caves, to what the body desires
Your ghosts are boundless, no love no fear
Fold the lines and travel free, the smokeless fires you’ll never see
Cast the nets and dredge the deep, whispers
One day, in my life, you’ll be
One day, through these eyes, you’ll see
Do you see
You'll see
