How Spectres Of Desire transform emotional pain into captivating synth pop
Rich analogue synths, a crisp beat and nostalgic melodies, this is exactly how synth pop should sound that sticks in your head straight away. When you then realise that this artist is new to the genre and is politely asking for feedback, you’re left truly amazed. ‘Entanglement’ sounds astonishingly mature, as if the American solo artist had been breathing in dark synth pop sounds since childhood.
I was particularly impressed by the vocals. They come across as pleasantly honest and largely do without any masking effects. This lends the track a wonderfully raw, authentic quality. Lyrically, you can sense this depth in every line. The song tackles the heavy theme of intergenerational pain and the desire for redemption with a sombre, poetic pull. An absolutely mature piece of work that leaves you wanting more.

Lyrics of "Spectres Of Desire – Entanglement"
I've been walking, collecting causeways
across dreamscapes of wasted life
A parallel tale, her own personal hell
being with him till the day he died
I've been desperate, weakened and reckless
a salt mine on a quiet rail
She's seen glimpses, reflected moments
of shadows calling us beyond the veil
Some day, he'll be, just another man who forgot his life
Some day, she'll see, that there's just no way to get out alive
He fell off mentally, shockingly quickly,
a child's mind is a curse to bear
She sloughed off slowly, not even knowing,
a soft shield before her organs failed
She soaked in comfort, wrapped up in loathing
in lock-step with a raging squall
I dove in quickly, hastened the drowning
seeking echoes of that shadows call
Some day, I'll see, there's another way to get out alive
Some day, you'll be, blissfully aware of another life
