Routine meets glimmer of hope
With "Hold Me Closer (Feat. LEXXE)", Soft Faith deliver a flawlessly produced synth pop track that tends to play in the background rather than really stick with me.
The song sounds polished – almost too polished. I feel like Soft Faith has settled into a sound that works, but hardly surprises me anymore. I think the sound has become a little dusty and could use a fresh boost. That's not meant as harsh criticism, though, because these guys know what they're doing, and they're doing it well.
The vocal addition of LEXXE (with overly strong vocal effects) stands out positively for me. Her voice brings a new nuance to the mix and gives hope that Soft Faith will become a little bolder again in the future – especially in terms of dynamics and song structure. Hold Me Closer is solid, but not a new milestone for me.
